This celebrated and popular North Tampa neighborhood was the first of its kind when it was started in the 1950’s. Developed by Matt Jetton (grandson to Matthew Jetton, renowned early 1900’s South Tampa developer) as a remedy to the overcrowding of South Tampa, Original Carrollwood blossomed upon discovery by the academia serving the then newly established University of South Tampa. As the comfort and luxury of this beautiful lakefront area became apparent, the residents flocked to and grew the community into the proud neighborhood it is today. Original Carrollwood is now an elegant suburb of just over 2,000 people residing in a variety of over 900 homes including modest condos and townhomes as well as lavish lakefront properties. With easy commutes afforded by the proximity of I-275, Original Carrolwood offers quick access to downtown Tampa, Tampa International Airport and MacDill AFB.
